Three Donegal schools get funding for new rooms and improvements

Two Donegal schools have been given approval for new accommodation, Minister Joe McHugh has said.

The schools – in Buncrana and Arranmore – will be informed of the improvement works next week.
Gairmscoil Mhic Diarmada Árainn Mhór is getting funds towards a new woodwork room and associated electrical works.

Scoil Mhuire in Buncrana is getting funding for a new technology room.

The Department has also told Minister McHugh that emergency works funding has been released to Scoil Phadraig in Bunbeg, Gaoth Dobhair. The money will be used for mechanical works.

“I want to welcome the release of the funding to all three schools,” said McHugh.

“I know the schools concerned had been waiting for the funding and I am delighted to tell them this has now happened.”

No details are given of the amount of funding approved by the School Building Unit, as the publication of the amount of grant aid sanctioned could prejudice the tendering process for an individual project.

The School Building Unit will issue detailed letters on the relevant projects directly to the school authorities and these letters will inform the school authorities of the amount of grant aid sanctioned by the Department.
