Nine compete for top spots in Donegal Business Awards

Nine businesses from across Donegal will compete for four highly-coveted prizes in the final of the 2017 Donegal Local Enterprise Awards in the Radisson Blu Hotel on Saturday night.

Christopher Flanagan, Flanagan’s Furniture (Buncrana); Lynn Costello Erskine, The Pear in paper (Donegal Town); Annette Houston, Galuck Ltd. T/A Cleaners in a Click (Letterkenny); Sharon McDaid, Silver Birch Gallery & Studio (Carndonagh); Emmet Rushe, Rushe Fitness Ltd (Letterkenny); Jessica Peoples, ZoNa Dance Co (Letterkenny & Greencastle); Anna Good, Wholegreen Health Food (Letterkenny), Michael Faulkner, Euroxchanger (Bridgend and Muff) and Thomas McLaughlin, Tádaias, (Manorcunningham), will all be hoping they can take home one of the sought-after 2017 titles.

The awards will be presented during a special spring business-networking event that will see television mentalist David Meade bring his unique brand of humour and entertainment to a fantastic night of celebration of business in the county.

“David’s business skills have been used by a host of global giants such as Apple, Cisco and Saatchi and Saatchi (to name but a few) but he’ll be coming to Letterkenny to entertain as well as inform.

He is hugely in demand and his show tour dates for 2017 have all sold out so we were delighted that he could find the time to come to Letterkenny for this unique business event,” said Ursula Donnelly, Deputy Head of Enterprise at the Local Enterprise Office.

The nine finalists for the 2017 Local Enterprise Awards were revealed earlier this week following a rigorous screening and judging process.

“The awards have been running for over 20 years in Donegal and we have a stringent process in place to make the short-list, never mind be named as a finalist.

The nine businesses who have reached the final have all presented business plans and faced rigorous scrutiny from a panel of judges, and can be justifiably proud of reaching this stage. All that remains is to see who will win the four awards,” Ursula added.

She stressed however that Saturday night’s event is also a business-networking event and urged local businesses to make the most of the opportunity.

When we ask for feedback from businesses, we are often told that they’d love more networking events, so we are really hoping that they will not miss out on this opportunity.

It’s a great way to support the finalists in the awards, but also to meet others in business in a fun and informal setting. Apart from David Meade there will be music by Headroom and with dinner also included, tickets are superbly priced at just €25.

The evening kicks off with a drinks reception from 7.30pm and tickets can be purchased online – http://bit.ly/2mGQVgp
