Shandon Hotel & Spa attended the ‘Irish Hotel Awards 2017’ and was delighted to win Spa Hotel of the Year for Ulster and the island of Ireland.

The Shandon’s Eibhlin Cannon was also crowned ‘Spa Therapist of the Year’.

The Shandon is thrilled to win such prestigious awards which comes around the time that they also celebrate 1 year from opening as a resort.

The resort has had unprecedented success since it opened in March 2016, employing 115 staff and bucking the trend of its previous life were it only opened seasonal, the resort opens all year round and has boosted the economy of the local & surrounding area of Dunfanaghy County Donegal.

The Shandon resort has reported occupancy levels of over 85% year to date which is almost unheard of in North Donegal.

Resort General Manager credits the success to strategic marketing and a team that has truly bought into her vision of creating a leading 4 star resort in Donegal and the Wild Atlantic way, providing the finest in Irish hospitality with passion and flair.

Development plans are in place to build additional rooms, Carolynne remarks, ‘this is testament to the success and demand we have experienced over the past year, Donegal Tourism, Tourism Ireland and Failte Ireland have been instrumental to the success that many tourism products are experiencing of late, it is great to see the support for hoteliers who want to create more jobs and who are keen to meet this demand with enthusiasm’.

Carolynne is excited to see that Donegal’s profile is finally matching up to what we have to offer by being named as the coolest place by national geographic and Irelands hidden gem by the Irish Independent.

The Shandon Hotel & Spa has one of the most beautiful locations with each bedroom making the most of its surrounding area with a guaranteed sea view from every room. The luxury spa has been remarked as ‘world class’ with its state of the art thermal suite boasting a vitality pool, massage jets, heated loungers, foot spas, salt grotto, herbal sauna and the popular outdoor Canadian hot-tub, all of which have the most breathtaking views.

Not only can you look at the splendour of the Wild Atlantic Way but you can immerse yourself in it because the hotel is just a short walk from the Blue Flag, Marble Hill Beach which is renowned for swimming, surfing and various watersports.
