Horgan: “We’ll be back to square one if our lads don’t get the right result tonight”

There’s a huge Northwest derby in Ballybofey tonight as Finn Harps host their near neighbours Sligo Rovers (kick-off 7.45).

Even this early in the season, there is a lot at stake for both sides and Harps boss Ollie Horgan is in no doubt about the quality of the opposition despite their poor start to the campaign up until last Saturday night’s first win over Bray Wanderers at the Showgrounds.

Horgan says; “I watched them last Saturday night at the Showgrounds and they have plenty of quality. They had a poor enough start to the season but they are better than that and showed against Bray what they are really capable of doing.

“Dave Robertson will be looking for three points tonight so we must be ready and prepared to work for the full 90 minutes to get a win.

“Sligo scored three goals against Bray so we must be disciplined defensively first and foremost and hopefully we can create chances at the other end, which we must finish.

“Yes we had two decent results in the last week against Pat’s and Limerick but we will be back to square one if our lads don’t get the right result tonight” Horgan added.

So the scene is set for what should be an attractive Northwest derby with Harps hoping to extend their unbeaten run to three games.

The last thing the manager wants is defeat after taking four points from the two away games against St. Pat’s and Limerick.

And there will be big Donegal interest in the opposition ranks with keeper Sean Patton (Bonagee) Ramelton’s Kyle Callan-McFadden and Liam Martin from Donegal Town all in the Sligo squad.

All three featured in the win over Bray last weekend. This is going to be an intriguing clash with visiting manager Dave Roberston anxious to get another positive result after a dreadful start to the season.

Supporters are asked to buy tickets in advance to avoid queuing on the night and to note the 7.45 kick off time.
