EURES Cross Border Partnership together with the Department of Social Protection (DSP) and the Department for Communities (DfC) in Northern Ireland will host a Cross Border Jobs Fair in the Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny this Thursday, March 30th from 10.00am to 2.00pm.

The Jobs Fair will provide jobseekers with information on a wide range of upskilling opportunities and careers and an opportunity to meet with prospective employers on the day.

In excess of 30 employers from the region will be in attendance with approximately 400 job vacancies ranging in healthcare, manufacturing, IT, marketing, construction, call centre, hospitality and tourism sectors.

Information will be available on all job vacancies and the Department of Social Protection’s EURES service will provide jobseekers with details of job opportunities, both cross border and in the wider European labour market.

There will be information on a range of up skilling opportunities, supports and advice to those interested in returning to work.

The event will, therefore, not only be of interest to jobseekers but also to adults interested in returning to education or training.

Declan Doherty, EURES/Employer Engagement Manager for Donegal, said: “This year there is a special focus on Jobs and Employers relating to the Tourism and Hospitality sector. This approach is based on feedback from previous jobs fairs and the increase in demand we are experiencing in tourism as a result of the popularity of the Wild Atlantic Way.

“The Jobs Fair promises to be a great opportunity for adults interested in returning to work or education, and also provides an opportunity for job seekers to avail of the careers mentoring available by experts in their field.”

DSP Employment Engagement Officer, Carmel Curran, sees it as “a great opportunity for people to meet directly the different sectors with vacancies on offer at the Fair, and a chance to engage with local employers some of whom are currently recruiting. The Department of Social Protection is delighted to be involved in this Fair which offers real opportunities to those seeking employment.”

Being in the heart of the community this Jobs Fair maximises the benefits for the area and gives jobseekers a chance to see the recruitment opportunities available to them.”

Dympna Boyle, EURES Cross Border Coordinator “The EURES IE/NI Cross Border Partnership is very happy to be hosting this event with the Department of Social Protection and the Department for Communities (NI) which we hope will benefit both employers and jobseekers in this cross border region. It is important for the people living here in the Border region to have this kind of event in their locality highlighting the opportunities for employment and to help them with any queries on cross border employment. It is equally important for employers to be able to access the larger cross border labour market.”

Geraldine Brereton, Assistant Director, Department for Communities said: “This job fair will provide an occasion for jobseekers and employers to interact with each other for mutual benefit. Employers get to widen their recruitment pool and jobseekers will be able to get an understanding of what an employer requires in a new recruit and will be able to apply for jobs on the day. We would encourage as many people as possible to attend and seize the real opportunities which will be available.”

Don’t miss this event on Thursday, March 30th, starting 10am. For further information contact Department of Social Protection on 074-9164475, Department for Communities (NI) on 02871-276 930 or www.eurescrossborder.eu. Admission is free to all.
