The indoor season is drawing to a close and with two days of competition in Athlone last weekend and one day remaining this Saturday that’s it.

Sommer Lecky and Janine Boyle scored on the double with Janine long and 60m golds in the under-19 and Sommer with double gold in high and long jumps at u-18.

James Kelly was again way ahead in his shot and Lauren Callaghan – a student at Gairmscoil Uladh – taking under-16 long jump with 5.41m.

Lauren had Bethany Lecky, Cate Smyth, Michaela Byrne and Daniella Jansen on board in that relay squad and at the end of a long day Danny Browne – a student at St Columbas College-  took silver 60m in the u-19.

Laura Crossan has continued to show improvement and with a pb in the 400m to take bronze at 58 plus

Elsewhere Dempsey Mc Guigan a scholarship student at University Of Mississippi in the States got his collegiate outdoor season underway with a fine 66.94,m opener hammer and with brother Fellan continuing to recover from meningitis getting to 62m over weekend we can look forward to improvement in the weeks months ahead.

So it’s back down the road to Athlone to wrap up indoor for this year on Saturday and then an 11 am start for the Rundonegal Womens 5k Sunday at Finn Valley in aid of Ovarian Cancer research
