Minister Joe McHugh has announced that €36,320 has been approved for Cumann Lúthchleasaíochta Thír Chonaill to enable them to enhance sports facilities adjacent to Coláiste na Carraige in Carrick.

Announcing the approval, the Donegal Government TD said that he is pleased to announce that Gaeltacht Minister Sean Kyne gave the go-ahead for the funding today.

The Tirconaill AC club will use the money in conjunction with the secondary school in Carrick to improve sports facilities in the town.

“This grant that will assist with the engagement between Cumann Lúthchleasaíochta Thír Chonaill and Coláiste na Carraige in rebuilding and redeveloping the basketball court, in addition to developing other sports facilities as an amenity for the Gaeltacht community in the area,” said Minister McHugh.

“I want to commend all those involved with the school and with the sports club. Both organisations work hand-in-hand with the community and this latest collaboration will be of enormous benefit to the people of Carrick, to the parish of Glencolmcille and the surrounding parishes.”

This funding is being provided under the 20-Year Strategy for the Irish Language 2010-2030.
