Kelly Ann cooks up a storm to reach final of Oriental Chef of Year

An LYIT School of Tourism student has reached the national final of the Oriental Chef of the Year competition.

Kelly Ann brogan (20), a 2nd year student at LYIT School of Tourism, Killybegs has been selected as a national finalist in the Wing Yip Oriental Chef of the Year 2017 competition, being held in University College Birmingham this Wednesday 5th April.

After being invited to compete in the live cook-off for the coveted title as a result of preliminary paper round applications, Kelly Ann is now one step closer to winning a once in a lifetime trip to Hong Kong which will include culinary work experiences in some of the countries top restaurants.

For the cook-off, Kelly Ann will have to cook a two-course meal against the clock to include a street food starter be high-class main course dish in a bid to impress the judges which include master chef finalist Larkin Cen, president of the British culinary federation Peter Griffiths (MBE) and Michelin-starred chef Glynn Purnell.

Ad the only Irish representative she will go head to head with 14 other finalists representing various colleges and restaurants through the UK.
