How Gooch helped Kerry beat Donegal despite being All-Ireland Final sub

Former Kerry star Tomas O Se has revealed how fellow legend Colm Cooper helped Kerry beat Donegal in the 2014 All-Ireland Final – despite being on the bench.

Cooper, better known as Gooch, called time on his inter-county career earlier today.

But fellow Kerryman and RTE panelist O Se revealed how Cooper helped him overcome the threat of Donegal star Colm McFadden.

Cooper didn’t make the starting fifteen but that didn’t stop him helping O Se to stave off the threat of McFadden.

O Se said “I remember when we played in the 2014 All-Ireland, Colm wasn’t named in the starting the line-up.

“But that didn’t stop him coming to me and helping me watch videos of McFadden and work out how to stop him. He was very much a team player.

“I have no doubt he was the greatest Kerry forward of all-time and that puts him ahead of a lot of big names.”
