Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan was relieved to see his side overcome Cockhill Celtic in the EA Sports Cup last night.

By Chris McNulty at Finn Park

Horgan was thankful for the intervention of Jonny Bonner, whose double strike helped Harps to a 3-1 win, with Sean Houston getting a late third.

Bonner, who netted a first-half penalty, fired in a brilliant second, just four minutes after Derek Doherty drew Cockhill level.

“We knew what we were coming into,” Horgan said.

“We were up against a very good side and it showed that in the second half. They looked like they were going to kick on and win it after they got the equaliser.

“We lost our way.

“We were deservedly ahead with the penalty but when we didn’t get the second, they ground their way back into the game. They pinned us back and deservedly equalised.

“They have brilliant spirit about them and they caused us bother.”
