Garden centre to give it welly for RNLI

Willowhill Garden Centre in Fahan want your old wellies and boots to raise funds for the RNLI’s Mayday Appeal to buy vital kit for lifeboat crews.

So dig out those old boots lying around the house and donate them at the garden centre before April 30.

Willowhill will then fill the boots with summer flowering plants that will brighten up any garden or patio and on the last weekend of May (27th and 28th) they will hold a massive two-day event when the blooming boots will be sold.

Individuals and schools in the north west are being asked to dig out those old boots no longer in use or too small, to help save lives at sea. Collection of boots from schools can be organized.

Willowhill Garden Centre owner Carol Burns, with your help, plans to make this ‘Fill your Boots’ an annual event.

“The yellow wellies are such a familiar part of the RNLI’s crew kit, we thought with so many old boots lying around people’s houses, planting them up with summer colour would be a great way to raise much-needed funds as part of the RNLI’s Mayday Appeal for Crew Kit.

“Just drop your old boots and wellies off here at Willowhill between now and April 30 and we will transform them. Then over the last weekend in May we will hold a major two-day event and sell the transformed boots. Schools who gather up wellies for the event can get in touch to arrange collection.”
