Skydiving siblings to raise funds for homeless charity

Rhiannon and Ossian Smith are going to take to the sky on June 10th to complete a sponsored sky dive in aid of Humans Too, a charity group that work with Ireland’s homeless.

The siblings are originally from Burtonport, with Ossian now being based in Letterkenny and Rhiannon working in support services in Dublin.

Speaking to Donegal Daily, Rhiannon explained; “I decided to volunteer with the homeless, as I was so upset by the homeless crisis in Ireland – there are currently more than 7,000 registered homeless, and over 2,000 homeless children.

“With Humans Too, we run a nightly mobile soup run in Dublin which distributes hot food, snacks, sleeping bags, clothing and hygiene products, as well as a friendly ear.

“We are called Humans Too as these people ARE humans too, and should be treated with the respect and dignity every human needs” she added.

Humans Too aim to provide additional supports to the homeless community in the future, however they are very limited due to funding.

“I spoke to my brother and he was very moved by these stories from the streets, and before he knew what was happening he had agreed to do this with me! It will be an utterly terrifying endeavor, but hopefully it will be worth it in the end, and we raise money. Any amount helps.”
