Listen: Michael Lynch to ponder his post at Drumoghill after missing out on title

Michael Lynch says he’ll consider his future as the Drumoghill FC manager over the coming days, after seeing his side pipped at the post by Glenea United.

Drumoghill finished on the same number of points – 36 – that was enough to win them the title last year, but the Moss men were left to count the cost of some damaging results in mid-season.

Former Drumoghill centre-half Lynch – who won Ulster Senior League titles at Swilly, Letterkenny and Kildrum – will now ponder his position.

“I’ll take a break now to see,” he said.

“Managing a team is a big commitment. I have a lot of commitments now, between work and family, so I’ll take a few days now to think about it.”

Drumoghill ended their campaign with a 5-2 win over Lagan but, with Glenea defeating Rathmullan, it wasn’t enough to retain the crown.

Lynch said: “We’re disappointed, but there wasn’t a lot we could do. We won our last six and we did what we had to do.

“At the start of the season, we wanted to retain it. We’re very disappointed.

“You’d torture yourself if you went through all the games. You’d go crazy if you think of what we should have done.”
