So you think today was sunny and hot across Donegal…….?

Donegal basked in surprising Mayday sunshine today.

People took to beaches from Bundoran to Buncrana in their thousands to make the most of the high temperatures.

Motorists had to park outside Glenveagh National Park as visitors flocked to one of our most famous attractions.

And the good news is that tomorrow and Wednesday are going to be even hotter.

Met Eireann is forecasting temperatures of up to 18 degrees for many parts of Ireland including Donegal.

The first week of May will see rain disappear and a surge in temperatures take its place.

Met Eireann forecasters said: “Tuesday will be dry with good sunny intervals.

“There will be maximum temperatures of 16 – 19 degrees generally, but 13 or 14 along northeast, east and southern coasts.”

Thursday and Friday will be mostly dry with a mix of cloud and sunny intervals.

A few isolated light showers may develop, especially in eastern and southern coastal areas.

Fresh winds are also expected on Friday.

Hopefully a sign of things to come for the rest of the summer.
