Dust off the BBQ, slather on the suncream – today will be a scorcher!

It’s beginning to feel like we’re getting closer to summer as temperatures are set to hit a sweet spot until Wednesday.

The mini-heatwave is set to last from today until Wednesday.

Met Eireann say that today will be dry with good sunshine in most areas across Ireland, with a light breeze and temperatures ranging from 16 to 20 degrees.

From Monday onwards, they forecast that it will be dry with sunshine and winds will be light to moderate, with the west of Ireland getting the best weather.

Monday will be the hottest day according to Met Eireann, with temperatures expected to hit 20 degrees.

However the nights will be nippy, with temperatures plummeting to as low as 2 degrees on Tuesday night, but in general temperatures at night will range between 3 and 6 degrees.

Although it is not certain what weather we’ll get after Wednesday, Met Eireann say that their current indications suggest that Thursday will see the dry weather holding, but with the possibility of some light rain next Friday.

Here comes the summer!
