Do you have a ‘green’ idea to make your business grow?

A free workshop to help businesses tackle climate change through entrepreneurship will be held in the CoLab, LYIT next week.

Globally, climate change is a 85 trillion business opportunity.  If you are an entrepreneur interested in exploring ideas that tackle climate change, or if you are a company wanting to explore the opportunities in climate change or how it will impact on your business model in the future, you should book your place on a 2oCamp workshop.

Organised by CoLab at the Letterkenny Institute of Technology together with Sustainable Nation, the one day workshop on Tuesday 16th May (10:00-16:30) will walk you through all the steps in developing your idea or business further. It is free, but you do need to have the beginnings of an idea.

The opportunity to develop your green idea is so hot, it sizzles.

The workshop will be facilitated by Ron Immink, the entrepreneur-in-residence for Sustainable Nation. Ron has an extensive background in working with entrepreneurs and businesses, is an expert in innovation and strategy, speaks on the topic of business regularly and is a bestselling author. You can contact him directly with any questions ron.immink@sustainablenation.ie

To book your place click http://sustainablenation.ie/blog/tackling-climate-change-through-entrepreneurship-join-our-2camp/. Places are limited and will be allocated on first come, first serve basis.

What is 2oCamp?

The workshop is open to a start-up or an existing business – everyone with an idea is welcome. Ideas can range from renewable energy to sustainable transport and from smart agriculture right through to new business models and ways to fund projects and make an impact.

Any idea goes

Any idea goes and there are no restrictions, apart from having sustainability as part of their idea in some shape of form. One of the purposes of the day, is to explore that angle further. Participant is free of charge.

Opportunity hotspot

Climate change is becoming a serious issue as well as opportunity hotspot. Driven by regulation through COP21, investors starting to put a risk premium on non-sustainable business practices, consumer pressure and multinationals changing their procurement arrangement, making sustainability a pre-condition to become part of their value chain.

Sustainable Nation

Sustainable Nation, as part of their 2 degrees platform, want to highlight this as a business opportunity and have developed a number of programmes across the enterprise spectrum from idea stage to scaling and corporate intrapreneurship.

Aim

Our aim is to increase the awareness of the opportunities in climate change and tackle climate change through entrepreneurship.

2oCamp

The 2oCamp is for individuals and companies that have an idea and want to explore their idea in more detail. Over a one day workshop (10:00-16:00), participants get the tools to assess their idea, develop the idea further and get the beginning of a pitch deck. The methodology applied is based on shortened version of the Climatelaunchpad methodology.

Climatelaunchpad

Should participant want to take the idea further, they can apply for the Climatelaunchpad competition, where they have an opportunity to develop the business further and compete with 30 European counties. The top 3 finalists will represent Ireland at the finals in Cyprus this year.
