Funding issues surrounding a re-opened theatre in Gaoth Dobhair have been resolved.

As Gaeltacht Minister, McHugh sanctioned a €485,000 grant for the redevelopment of Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair and it was officially re-opened by the Donegal TD recently.

In recent weeks it emerged that a number of issues had led to final payments for the Amharclann being withheld.

Minister McHugh had been working with current Gaeltacht Minister Sean Kyne on behalf of the theatre committee to resolve outstanding matters.

“I was aware of problems with funding for a number of weeks and had been working quietly with a number of parties to resolve these,” said Minister McHugh.

“I am delighted that all outstanding matters have now been resolved and all outstanding funding is being released.

“I want to thank Minister Kyne for all his help in this matter, and I want to particularly thank Paul Mac Cumhaill and the committee at the Amharclann for their dedication to this project not just since last year but over a decade working hard to re-open this facility.

“The Amharclann is a brilliant resource for the Gaoth Dobhair gaeltacht and indeed for the entire county. The completed new building is superb. I know that it will go on for many many years to provide a platform to showpiece all that is wonderful about our native culture.”

An maoiniú uilig scaoilte do hAmharclann Ghaoth Dobhair- McHugh

Tá sé ráite ag an tAire Stáit Joe Mc Hugh go bhfuil réiteach ar na deacrachtaí leis an deontas a bhaineann le Amharclann Gaoth Dobhair.
Mar Aire Stáit na Gaeltachta cheadaigh an tAire McHugh deontas de

€485,000 le athfhorbairt a dhéanamh ar Amharclann Gaoth Dobhair agus go deimhin is é an tAire McHugh a rinne athoscailt ar an Amharclann le deireanaí.

Tháinig sé le fios le deanaí go raibh fadhbanna ann maidir le híocaíochtaí don Amharclann.

Bhí an tAire Joe McHugh ag obair leis an Aire Stáit do Ghnóthaí Gaeltachta Sean Kyne ar son coiste na hAmharclainne chun na fadhhbanna seo a shocrú.
“Bhí mé ar an eolas maidir le na fadhbanna seo le roinnt seachtaine anuas agus bhí mé ag obair le na páirtithe leasmhara chun iarracht theacht ar reitiú anseo” a deir an Aire McHugh.

“Tá lúchair orm go bhfuil na fadhbanna seo socruithe anois, agus beidh an maoiniú uilig curtha ar fáil don choiste.

“Ba mhaith liom mo bhuíochas a ghabháil leis an Aire Sean Kyne lena chuidiú uilig anseo, agus ba mhaith liom mo aitheantas a ghabháil le Pól MacCumhaill agus coiste na hAmharclainne uilig ar son a dtiomantás don thógra seo.

“Is áis den scoth í an Amharclann do cheantar Ghaoth Dobhair agus don chontae ina iomláine. Tá tábhacht nach beag ann do chur chun cinn na Gaeilge in athoscailt na hAmharclainne agus is cinnte go rachaidh sé chun tairbhe go mór do cheantar Ghaoth Dobhair.
