A Donegal county councillor says the people of Buncrana are “shocked and horrified” by reports that a man was involved in a lewd incident at a park in the town.

Donegal Daily reported yesterday how a man in his 40s was arrested for drunk driving by Gardai.

It followed an incident beside a park in which passers-by were left horrified after the man became engaged in a sexual act in his car.

One man reported the incident to Gardai and they investigated the situation.

A man was arrested and is to appear before Buncrana District Court later.

Local county councillor Jack Murray, from Buncrana, said people are outraged by what has happened.

He told Donegal Daily “The incident, as reported on social media, has shocked and horrified the community in Buncrana.

“If true, I expect charges to be brought and I believe that the individual should face the full rigours of the law.

“Buncrana is an extremely safe town and a beautiful place to visit. That is why this alleged incident is so shocking.

“I would call on anyone with any information to come forward and contact the Gardai,” he said.
