Inish CC get on their bikes to help Donegal Cancer Bus – and raise €3,500!

Last Sunday Inish Cycling Club hosted their annual charity cycle in aid of the Donegal Cancer Bus, and raised more than €3,500!

In the stunning sunshine, over 120 cyclists departed from Moville Football Club at 9:30am and began their journey around Inishowen.

Many cyclists opted for the Inish 60 mile route, which is less demanding (but still no mean feat) than the 100 mile route, which was popular with locals and visitors alike.

The day was a huge success, despite a few punctures and the odd patch of sunburn.

Cyclists were treated to spectacular views as they made their way around Inishowen.

A spokesperson for Inish Cycling Club says “this success was due to a great team who supported InishCC in many ways”.

“So far more than €3500 has been raised from this cycle! We look forward to meeting you again next year, bring a friend (or more)!”

Inish Cycling Club have expressed their gratitude to Supervalu Buncrana and the Ballyliffin Hotel who facilitated their water and food stops, as did Philomena O’Brien at the Wee Hall, Culdaff. They would also like to thank Paddy Gillespie, Ross Donaghey, and Paddy Harkin who supported the cyclists from the comfort of their motorbikes, a much needed role.

They would also like to thank those who sponsored refreshments, especially Valerie at Caiseal Mara Hotel, Canny & Doherty Supervalu, and Eamonn Gillen & Sons.

Phelim at Border Bikes provided breakdown assistance, Boyce Paints, Donegal Fixings, Newtownstewart Construction and Paddy Devlin all contributed to the day. Michael McDaid Photography again generously gave his day to capture so many memories – not to mention rescuing a “punctured” cyclist. Sean Doherty at Moville FC was generous with his help as ever. Seamas McElvaney who travels from Monaghan every year with his “broom wagon” to help them – a special thank you.

Their hard working hospitality team earn their gratitude too, that is Donna, Caroline, Louise, Julie, Rita, Marylou, and Caroline.

They also extend a big thank you to all the cyclists and their families who came and gave their time, money and energy to the Donegal Cancer Bus; your generosity is ‘wheelie’ appreciated!
