Two goals for Boyle-Carr at UEFA Development Tournament for Irish U16s

Amy Boyle-Carr netted her second goal of this week’s UEFA Development Tournament in County Mayo yesterday, bagging a screamer in the Republic of Ireland’s 5-0 win over Lithuania.

Boyle-Carr let fly with a stunning goal late in the game to seal a comprehensive win.

The Glenties student also scored in Monday’s 6-0 win over Northern Ireland.

The St Columba’s Comprehensive Student, who this year signed for Sion Swifts Ladies, has been in fine form this week as Sharon Boyle’s Ireland took two impressive wins to set up a showdown with Denmark, who have also won two from two, tomorrow.

Yesterday, Mia Dodd set Ireland on their way with a 16th minute header.

The Irish team made their dominance count in the second half and within five minutes of kicking off, Aoife Slattery bagged her second sensational goal of the tournament when her rasping shot hit the post and rebounded over the line.

Emily Whelan was incredibly industrious all day and her industry paid off in the 53rd minute when she latched onto a lobbed through ball from Lucia Lobato to make it 3-0 and Sinead Donovan’s penalty added to the tally before Boyle-Carr stepped up with a thunderous strike.

Greencastle’s Kate McClenaghan is also on the Irish squad and on Monday came on as a substitute for Kayla Brady against Northern Ireland.
