Gardai say they are not now treating the discovery of the body of a man in a caravan in West Donegal as suspicious.

The body of the man in his 60s was found at Lettercaugh near Loughanure.

The discovery was made by a local farmer last night who alerted the emergency services.

It is understood the man, believed to be from outside Ireland, had not been seen in a few weeks and may be dead for some time.

His body remained at the scene overnight and was removed to Letterkenny University Hospital this morning for a post-mortem examination.

The scene of the discovery of the body has been preserved.

However, Gardai have said they do not now believe the death was suspicious.

A file on the matter is to be prepared for the coroner.
