Raphoe Tidy Towns Ltd

The judging for the National Tidy Towns will commence in the next 2 weeks. Thank you to everyone for all your help in keeping gardens and properties painted, clean, tidy and litter free. The Tidy Towns Staff have collected 107 black bags of rubbish from our 9 approach roads in recent months.

The Application for Raphoe in the National Tidy Towns Competition will be submitted this week. If you are considering putting out hanging baskets or window boxes please do so in the next two weeks.

 

Raphoe Integrated Summer Programme – Date for your diary

We are delighted to say that in conjunction with Springboard Family Support Project, we have been working away and making plans for the 2017 Summer programme.

We can now confirm that the Summer Programme will take place from Monday 17th July – Friday 21st July and Monday 24th July – Friday 28th July.

Unfortunately this year places are very limited and demand is high, therefore we would ask parents / guardians to be mindful of booking your child a place if they cannot attend the full two week programme. More information regarding registration to follow in the next few weeks.

 

Donegal YMCA Step 2017 – 18 Programme Recruitment

YMCA’s Support, Training and Enterprise Programme (STEP) in Letterkenny is currently recruiting for their September 2017 to June 2018 programme. The 47 week full-time programme offers a full FETAC/QQI Level 4 major award in Employment Skills. There are components in Communications, Work Experience, Career Planning, Customer Service, Information Technology, Computer Applications, Functional Maths, Understanding Inter-culturalism and Team Working.

There are also two work placement components totalling 6 weeks within the course. The aim of the programme is to support participants in gaining employment or accessing further education. The programme is primarily aimed at early school leavers who are unemployed and between the ages of 17-25 years, having left school at least 6 months previously.

Participants receive the equivalent of SOLAS training allowances and also receive a transport & meal allowance.  The course is funded by the Department of Education and Skills and the European Social Fund. Convoy Ulster Scots Summer Scheme

The Summer scheme for 2017 will take place on 31st July – 4 th August 2017 in Convoy Orange Hall for ages 5 – 12 (must be at school) from 10am – 3pm. Cost €30. If interested contact 00447851410686 or 0872620589

 

Annual Pilgrimage

The annual pilgrimage to the shrine of Matt Talbot in Dublin will take place on Sunday, 4th June 2016.  Total cost including bus fare and meals: €50.  Bus leaving chapel car park, Raphoe at 8:30 a.m. sharp.  Contact Brid Toner 087 1200242 to book.

 

Raphoe Craft Club

Calling all crafters! Our craft group meet every Tuesday morning at the Volt House from 10.00 – 12.00. We love learning new crafting techniques and since starting we have tried decoupage, furniture upcycling, mosaic’s, and upcycling tyres to name but a few!! If you would like to try it out in a friendly and relaxed group why not pop along on Tuesday morning. Cost is €3 per week.

 

Raphoe Something Special Group

The annual BBQ held at Maggie’s Tavern on the 7 th July 2017 will be in aid of the Something Special Group. This group supports children with disabilities, any funding raised assist with the groups Summer programme and out of school activities planned throughout the year. If you would like to purchase a ticket, they are available in Raphoe Family Resource Centre.

 

Walking Group Trips

The Family Resource Centre has accessed a small amount of funding from Donegal Local Development CLG Social Inclusion & Activation Programme “Transport Only” Funding Supports 2017 for our weekly Walking Group to visit and enjoy walks at Glenveagh National Park, Trusk Lough and Swan Park, Buncrana. There are a limited number of places available for each trip so if interested please contact the Family Resource Centre on 074-9145796/087- 3641503. The Family Resource Centre would like to thank Margaret Larkin of DLDC for her support in accessing the funding.

 

50-50 Bonus Ball

The winner of the weekly Bonus Ball was Catherine Toner. The winning number was 19! Congratulations Catherine!! To enter the next Bonus Ball Draw please call into the Family Resource Centre in The Volt House before Saturday of each week. Good luck!

 

Raphoe Friday Club

The Friday Club meets every Friday morning in the Volt House Hall from 10.30am- 12.30. We would like more in our community to come along and be a part of the Group.

There will be events organised over the summer so come along and join in the craic!

Refreshments are also provided. Transport is available on Friday mornings and if you require this please phone 0749145462 and arrange.
