Half-time: Harps on their way to much-needed win against Pat’s

Finn Harps are on their way to a first League win in six games after a scintillating first half display against St Patrick’s Athletic.

A Danny Morrissey double and a third from Packie Mailey have Ollie Horgan’s men 3-0 to the good at the break.

Harps might be without Paddy McCourt, Barry Molloy, Kilian Cantwell and Ciaran O’Connor – but the replacement foursome (Morrissey, Mailey, Michael Funston and Jonny Bonner) have been the key figures.

Harps took the lead in the ninth minute when Morrissey headed home from a Funston ball in.

It was 2-0 in the 28th minute as Morrissey capitalised on a poor backpass from Gavin Peers to nip in ahead of ‘keeper Conor O’Malley to roll home.

It got even better for Harps on 42 minutes as Mailey – playing for the first time since sustaining a head injury in the EA Sports Cup defeat to Sligo on Easter Monday – headed home from a Bonner free-kick.
