Donegal to be the hottest place in Ireland this week!

Nevermind our much-celebrated title of Coolest Place on the Planet – Donegal will be the Hottest Place in the country as the mini heatwave sets in from tomorrow.

The warm weather will bring temperature highs of 24 degrees to the county – equalling sunny holiday destinations including Tenerife.

Thursday and Friday are forecast to experience the best of the summer heat, according to Met Eireann.

Today’s clouds will clear to bring highs of 18 to 22 degrees with light breezes.

A mild night tonight clears the way for a bright and gloriously sunny Thursday, with highest temperatures of between 20 and 24 degrees in the northwest.

Friday afternoon will also treat Donegal people to the best of the sunshine, with highs of 23 degrees in central areas. However, the air is forecast to be hot and humid and may lead to heavy, thundery downpours in the evening.

The countrywide outlook for the weekend is mixed, with a possibility of thundery rain on Saturday morning clearing to bring sunny spells and fresher afternoon temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees.

Met Eireann forecast Sunday to be a bright, fresh and mostly dry day. Highest temperatures 15 to 19 degrees in light breezes.
