Pat the Cope Gallagher is advising Donegal constituents to contact him before applying for passport renewals due to recent delays.

Currently the waiting time for a new passport stands at twenty two days at the earliest.  The Minister for Foreign Affairs Charles Flanagan has been implored to speed up waiting time.

“There are still long delays in the processing of Passport applications by Passport Express and current indications are the situation is worsening,” said Gallagher.

“I strongly advise constituents that require Passports at short notice to contact me or my office – Telephone 074 9521276 before you take any action , and we will advise you of the best approach for renewal depending on your circumstances for Passport renewal.”

Pat the Cope has told residents to not post their passport application by post before contacting his office as delays can currently be up to 4/5 weeks for renewing or replacing their passports.

“If in doubt regarding any aspect of renewing your Passport either in an emergency situation or on short notice please feel free to contact me or my Office and we will only be too glad to help and advise you,” concluded Gallagher.
