A LOUGHANURE TEENAGER is set for a move across channel once he completes his Junior Cert.

Marc Walsh, who is 16, will join up with Swansea City in July. He was with Gweedore Celtic since the age of eight and this season has featured for Finn Harps Under-17’s having made the move last year.

Walsh is a Republic of Ireland international at both Under-15 and Under-16 level, lining up for the Boys in Green as recently as last week in a 2-1 win for the latter side over Kosovo in Castlebar.

A Facebook post from Gweedore Celtic reads: “Marc Walsh from Loughanure, who has been with Gweedore Celtic since he was eight, will soon join Premiership club Swansea City as soon as he completes his Junior Cert.

“It is an honour for all involved with the club and especially for his family, that this talented player will be given an opportunity to reach his potential and help him realise his ambition of playing professional football.

He is the first player from the club’s Academy to be offered a chance of playing at a higher level. Marc has played for all age groups within the club and his progress from club to Development Squads and eventual International recognition with Republic of Ireland underage teams is a testament to the work of the Academy ,the coaches and the talent of the player himself.

The players, coaches ,managers, parents and committee of Gweedore Celtic wish Marc all good wishes for the future.

Ádh mór ort Marc sna blianta amach romhat
