Council land lease gives boost to Churchill playground hopes

Donegal County Council has approved lease of a 2-acre site to the Churchill Community Development Group, who intend to construct a new playground in the village.

A ten-year lease on the site was proposed by Fianna Fail Councillor James Pat McDaid and supported unanimously by his fellow councillors.

The Churchill Community Development Group are applying to the LEADER programme for funding.

The group are aiming to develop a playground, gym trail and community gardens.

“Churchill is a village that hasn’t got much, but there is a hard-working committee here willing to put a playground and amenities into the village,” Councillor McDaid said.

“There is a lot of traffic out the road to places like Glenveagh and Gartan so it would be welcome to see the Council working hand-in-hand here.

“This is a great location and it would be a great boost to the village and the people of the area.”
