‘Me and My Business’ is a special feature series on DonegalWoman.ie is celebrating local members of the Donegal Women in Business Network. Here, Patricia Treacy of Dunwiley Nurseries Ltd in Stranorlar celebrates the beauty that blooms in her everyday work, and tells how she progressed her career from customer service to managing a growing garden enterprise.

Me and My Business: My name is Patricia Treacy and I was born and reared in Stranorlar. I am the eldest of three children having one brother and one sister.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science from Galway University and the birth of my son in 1992, my life took me on a different journey leading me down a career path in customer service.

My career in customer service started in the United States selling linens to Inns and Bed & Breakfasts. On moving back to Donegal I worked as a Reservations Manager in one of the local hotels and an Office Administrator in an estate agents.

I am currently managing the family business Dunwiley Nurseries Ltd situated in Stranorlar which was set up by my parents Raymond and Patricia Treacy.

We have been supplying the people of Donegal and beyond with a wide selection of trees and shrubs for their gardens for many years.

In fact, most of the gardens you see will probably have at least one tree or shrub if not all from Dunwiley Nurseries Ltd.

We have a two and half acre site which accommodates a wide selection of planting material for your garden or landscape area and gives us the advantage of being the only place you will find open ground semi mature and mature trees.

We have very experienced, knowledgeable staff to give you advice on all your gardening needs. Dunwiley Nurseries Ltd is also a Department of Agriculture approved Nursery for the supply of Thorn, Native Trees and Native Irish Apples for GLAS.

Going from employee to employer has allowed me to experience both sides of business and helped with my decisions. I have been fortunate to have the support of my family, staff, friends, suppliers and customers.

Our customers are a great inspiration and their feedback is vitally important for us to grow. In business, recommendations mean a lot.

Dunwiley Nurseries Limited

One of the main highlights of my job is working with nature even if I am having a tough day I only have to take a moment and look at the beauty surrounding me.

If I am to give any advice it would be to enjoy what you do. So whether you are an experienced or novice gardener, landscaper or looking for a gift idea why not call into Dunwiley Nurseries Ltd and just take a stroll you never know what inspiration or little gem you might find.

If you have any gardening related questions please don’t hesitate in calling us here at Dunwiley Nurseries Ltd on 074 9131865 and we will be more than happy to help you. For any further information check out our website at www.dunwileynurseries.com.
