Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher has wished all students across Donegal best wishes as they prepare to sit the Leaving Cert and Junior Certificate.
The West Donegal TD said his thoughts and best wishes are with all the students as they begin their exams tomorrow.
He said “It’s a particularly important time for all Leaving Cert students who after these exams will make the transition from school to either working life or further Education, be that in third level, further Education or through apprenticeships.
“The hard work and preparation is done – now you just need to put your best foot forward, remain calm and collect, drawing from all the hard work which you have done over the past number of years.
“Exams are difficult at the best of times but they are also a showcase for you to demonstrate all that you have learnt, the information and knowledge you have accumulated in your school years – your exam paper is an invitation for you flourish and the writing script a blank canvas for you to fill with your knowledge and personality.
“To the Junior Certs who will be sitting their first state exam, the experience you will gather from that will be invaluable for future years.
“Going through State exams is a stressful for both the students and their parents, but it’s important to keep stress at a minimum by staying healthy, eating well and getting enough sleep. When each exam is done it’s best not to engage in post mortems’ and over-analysis, it’s best to just focus on your next exam and always keep a calm atmosphere at home and a quiet place for study.”
“Always remember our Educational system provides many pathways to further advancement and progression – whilst one route may not open to you, there are other pathways in which you can excel and reach your desired destination.”
“Good Luck one and all and do your best, for that is all that can be asked of any one of us.”
