Professor Paddy Johnston to be laid to rest in Buncrana cemetery

THE funeral details have been announced for the vice-chancellor of Queen’s University Belfast, Professor Patrick Johnston.

Professor Johnston died suddenly on Sunday, aged 58. He is survived by his wife and four sons.

He hailed from Derry’s Waterside and was educated at St Columb’s College in the city.

His remains will repose in his family home at Lennoxville, Malone Road, Belfast at 10.30 am on Thursday, June 8 for 11 o’clock Requiem Mass in St Brigid’s Parish Church, Derryvolgie Avenue, south Belfast.

The service will be followed by burial in Desertegney Cemetery, Linsfort, Buncrana, at around 5 pm.

Family and friends are welcome at the family home between 12 mid-day and 9 pm on Wednesday.

Family flowers only please.

Donations in lieu of flowers to Cancer Research UK or to Cancer Focus Northern Ireland.
