The family of a Lifford woman fear that her body may be exhumed to investigate the circumstances of her death.

Gardai continue to investigate the cause of ‘right to die’ campaigner Marie Fleming.

Officers launched an investigation into the terminally ill woman after her long-term partner Tom Curran admitted in an interview that he had “helped her to die.”

Now her family fear that a court case could result in their mother’s remains being exhumed to determine a cause of death.

The family admitted that they are extremely worried about the “monstrous” prospect of having their mother’s body dug up.
