Donegal County Museum needs your help with its forthcoming autumn exhibition – ‘A Vanished World – the Landed Gentry of Donegal’.

Curated by Donegal County Council’s Museum and Archives Services in association with the Heritage Office, this exhibition will explore the world of the landed gentry in Donegal in the decades before the foundation of the State.

From the social whirl of parties to the management of lands and gardens, the exhibition will uncover the stories of those who lived and worked in the vanished world of Donegal’s big houses.

Donegal County Museum seeks to borrow items for this forthcoming exhibition relating to the gentry families, women and children’s lives, staff, tenants, houses and gardens. These items include photographs, furniture, clothes. All items will be returned at the end of the exhibition.

We are also looking for any stories, memories and photographs of those who worked on these estates and in the Big houses. The exhibition will run to until early 2018.

If you can help, please contact Donegal County Museum, High Road, Letterkenny, Co Donegal. T 074 9124613 E museum@donegalcoco.ie
