Jason Quigley predicts Conor McGregor ‘will knock Mayweather out cold’

Jason Quigley has predicted that Conor McGregor will knock Floyd Mayweather ‘out cold’ when the pair meet in Las Vegas on August 26.

A bout between UFC star McGregor and Mayweather, who was thought to have retired with an unblemished 49-fight card, has been touted for some time now.

Yesterday, the vision became a reality as the pair both announced the fight on their respective social media channels.

The bout, to be standard 12-round boxing match using 10-ounce gloves, will be contested at 154 pounds.

Although McGregor has never boxed, either at amateur of professional level, Quigley believes the Dubliner will be too sharp for 40-year-old Mayweather in a fight that is said to be worth in excess of $100 million to each man.

“People will think i’m crazy and people will go mad about this but, mark my words, Conor McGregor is going to knock Floyd Mayweather out cold,” Quigley told Sky Sports.

“Believe me. You’ve heard it here first. Conor believes it, I believe it and Ireland believes it. Conor has so much belief in himself.

“Floyd is moving on in his career, he’s getting past it a little bit now. He keeps himself well, don’t get me wrong, but Floyd Mayweather won’t hurt or won’t damage Conor McGregor.

“In the UFC, the stuff they go through on the ground with knees and elbows, everything, I think Conor McGregor is definitely going to open a lot of eyes.

“He’s going to make history and be the first man to knock Mayweather out cold.”

Quigley has done some training with McGregor in the past but will be unable to assist in his preparation for this one as he nurses a hand injury sustained in his March win over Glen Tapia in California.
