There has been much sadness at the sudden passing of well-known firefighter Eddie Curran.

The popular Letterkenny man passed away in Letterkenny General Hospital this week after a short illness.

Eddie, from Ard O’Donnell, was one of the best-known and most dedicated members of the Letterkenny Fire service for many years.

One of his proudest moments came when Eddie got the “call” from Dublin for the presentation of his long service Fire Brigade certificate and medal which was presented by the then Environment Minister Batt O’Keefe T.D.

Eddie’s colleague and friend, Donegal Daily motoring columnist Brian McDaid, will pay a tribute to him in his column later today.

Condolences to Eddie’s family and friends on this difficult time.

Eddie and his colleagues receive their long service awards in Dublin.
