Pettigo team Kevin Eves and William Lynch’s Joule Donegal International Rally came to an end for this year earlier today when they went off course in Knockalla.
Donegal Daily reporter Charlie Collins says that both Eves and Lynch were tended to by medics, and fortunately no serious injuries were sustained by the pair, suffering a few “minor scrapes but thankfully nothing serious.”
Kevin’s father Martin Eves spoke to Donegal Daily to say that Kevin is receiving treatment for a foot injury but is doing well.
Martin says “he is in good form although a little disappointed that his rally ended this way, however he would like to send a sincere thank you to the course doctor, the safety personnel and his fellow competitors who came to his aid.
“Also, a big thank you to the ambulance crew and the doctors and nurses at Letterkenny General Hospital for taking care of him.
“Hopefully he will be up and about in the not too distant future and best of luck to all competitors.”
Collins adds “Safety is a crucial part of [the rally]… we saw it with the incident with Kevin and William down in Knockalla, there were no risks taken, emergency services and medics were in immediately.”
Following the crash the stage was cancelled, with the cars behind them being given a bogie time.
Damian Gallagher and Mac Walsh have overtaken Lynch and Eves to be the leaders of the National Rally.
