A major water outage has been reported in South Inishowen which will affect many homes and businesses.
The burst water main is linked to Fahan and has caused widespread disruptions in Burnfoot, Fahan, Inch Island, Bridge End, Sappagh, Burt and surrounding areas.
Irish Water have notified customers that crews are working to restore supply to all affected areas as soon as possible.
Cllr Jack Murray said that he was informed of a major burst at Bradley’s Shop in Fahan which has affected areas south of the town. He said water supplies are likely to be out for most of today, Friday.
“I will continue to lobby Irish Water to invest in upgrading this line and I’d encourage everyone to contact them and voice your frustration as well,” Cllr Murray said.
Elsewhere today, pump issues may cause supply disruptions to properties in Ballyshannon. Irish Water are carrying out maintenance in The Acres, Creevy, Parkhill, Abbeylands, Sheegys, Legaltan and surrounding areas. This work is expected to be completed by 1pm today (Friday).
Two major water main burst in Rathmullan and Culdaff yesterday have now been repaired, with supplies expected to be returned to normal as of this morning.
The Boil Water notice for Fintown remains in place after a cryptosporidium contamination was detected on 2nd June.
This notice applies to consumers on the Fintown Public Water Supply and the Meenmore Meenatinney group water scheme served from the supply who must boil water before use.
