Top NASA Director makes an expedition to try world-famous Donegal chowder

Jen Rae Wang, the Head of Communications of NASA, came to Donegal this weekend on a mission to sample something that’s out of this world.

Jen Rae paid a flying visit to Nancy’s Barn in Ballyliffin to try Chef Kieran Duey’s award-winning chowder. Kieran was recently crowned as the World Seafood Chowder Champion at the The Great Chowder Cook-Off in Rhode Island, which means many curious customers are now visiting his restaurant to try the dish for themselves.

Kieran said it was an honour to cook his seafood chowder for Jen Rae.

Jen Rae was in the area with Justin and Gerard of Donegal Photo Tours, who were helping her find the natural wonder that is the Aurora Borealis in Donegal. She took a risk in her quest to see the lights in summer but made the most of her visit by taking in some of Donegal’s gems such as The Grianan of Aileach.

“She was interested in seeing the northern lights but knew it was a bad time of the year. Apparently, they seen our images of them a few years back and she’d made sure to come this way if she ever got the chance. She’ll be back though,” they said.
