Donegal has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world (we may be biased) and it’s something we love to celebrate.

The county has countless hidden hideaways along the Wild Atlantic Way that locals love to explore and share. Now, we are giving Donegal Daily readers the chance to vote for your favourites!

Select your top three from this poll to be part of an upcoming list of the Top 10 Best Beaches in Donegal – as voted for by you!

Can’t think if your favourite three? Here is a reminder of some of the most beautiful seaside spots in the county. You’ll also discover new places on this list to explore on your next Donegal day out!

Murder Hole, Boyeeghter Bay:

The Murder Hole. Boyeeghter Bay, located in the northwest corner of Melmore Head on the Rosguill peninsula got its name from the Irish translation, Bá Íochtair meaning Lower Bay. But the beach, known locally as Murder Hole beach, may have got its name from legend. When Fionn mac Cumhaill killed Goll Mac Morna in revenge for killing his father, it was said to have taken place at a rock, Carraic Ghoill, lying off the townland of Dooey. This gave the name to the entire headland, Headland of Goll or Rossgoill and possibly is also how this beautiful, peaceful beach ended up with such a violent name. #ireland #insta_ireland #icu_ireland #loves_ireland #inspireland #sunset #ireland_gram #visitireland #northernireland #insta_ni #icu_ireland #nireland #exploreireland #thewildatlanticway
