S.N Mhín Tine Dé finished their school year on a high last Friday night when the school community celebrated the ‘Mini Oscars’ in the small, rural gaeltacht school on the edge of the ‘Bluestack Mountains’.

The honorary guest of the evening for 2017 was Mrs Teresa Breslin formerly Teresa Whoriskey one of the eldest surviving past pupils of the school. Teresa attended the school from 1930-1938. Teresa presented the ‘Pupil of the Year Awards’ (Dalta na Bliana) and Gaeilgeoir na Bliana (Irish speaker of the Year).
Teresa was accompanied by her daughters Mrs. Rose Mc Cabe and Mrs. Bernie Bennet. Parent and Parents Association Chairperson Cáit Bn. Uí Dhochartaigh presented Teresa with a floral arrangement.
The staff of the school ensure that pupils gain new experiences, activities and opportunities yearly.
The highlights for the 2016-2017 year were making and launching a film ‘An Bhean a bhí le Posadh, a Christmas dinner cooked by the teachers for the pupils as a reward for their Irish speaking endeavours, a weekly Chess Club, Coder Dojo classes where pupils learnt how to Code and make programmes, Seán-nós singing with ‘Corn Uí Riada’ champion ‘Gearodín Neidí Frainc’, a trip to the Ulster Museum and Belfast Zoo, a wildflower photographic competition, debating, a hike up ‘Mín Tine Seasc’, a Butterfly Talk with Leo and Geraldine Solosy, and on the one glorious day in June, Wednesday 21st a Sports Day on Narin Strand followed by a fun swim in the sea.
Rath Dé ar an obair mhaith agus go mairfidh muid beo go dtí an t-am seo ar an bhliain seo chugainn.
