Horgan expecting ‘savage game’ in six-pointer at Drogheda

The Finn Harps manager, Ollie Horgan, is expecting a ‘savage game’ in Friday’s relegation six-pointer against Drogheda United.

Harps travel to United Park looking to put further distance between themselves and the teams in the drop zone.

Horgan’s side go to County Louth a point ahead of Pete Mahon’s side, who defeated Harps 2-0 in Ballybofey earlier in the season with Adam Wixted and Gavin Brennan on target.

“They beat us at their ease in Ballybofey,” Horgan noted.

“It will be a savage game. We will be under pressure – but we’re under pressure everywhere we go.

“We didn’t have a shot on target against them in Ballybofey. They had their homework done on us and we just couldn’t get a foothold in the game.”

Harps haven’t played since a 4-0 loss to Dundalk a fortnight ago after the north-west derby against Derry City was called off, owing to Derry’s participation in the Europa League.

Horgan said: “We trained well. We had a couple of extra sessions in. We had no match but we made the best of it.”
