The family and friends of murdered Buncrana woman Danielle McLaughlin have organised Buncrana’s first ever colour run.

The run in memory of Danielle takes place on Saturday, July 29, at 1pm, leaving from Buncrana Leisure Centre.

“It was the Holi festival or colour festival Danielle was visiting when she was sadly killed, so her family and friends thought what better way than remembering Danielle than through something she spent her last day doing,” organisers say.

“The colour run is for people of all ages and we want this to be a great day of fun for all the family, food and drinks will be served after the run which begins at the Leisure Centre, Buncrana and travels to Swan Park and back again with plenty colour stations and surprises on the way.”

Tickets are €20 for adults, €10 for children under 12 and please ask about family discounts.

A number of registration dates have been announced: Wednesday 12th, 4pm-8pm The Plaza, Buncrana; Friday 14th, 4pm-8pm The Plaza, Buncrana; Saturday 15th, 1pm -5pm, The Plaza, Buncrana.

Check the Facebook page for other dates and methods of registration.

The body of 28-year-old Danielle was found in March near Palolem Beach in Canacona near Goa, India.

The events are to fund-raise and add to the money left after the funeral expenses and the donation to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund.

Also, on Thursday, July 20 at 8pm, a Night of Country, with David James and David Craig, will be held in the Plaza, Buncrana.

Tickets can be purchased from Macs Bookstore, Buncrana, Halfway Stores, Burnfoot or the Lunchbox, Buncrana. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.

Organisers say: “Both artists have agreed to offer up their services for expenses only, which we are deeply humbled at and the Plaza have been great at offering up their services free of charge.

“We look forward to a great night for all, don’t forget there will be a great country themed raffle on the night with some great autographed memorabilia from popular artists”
