Row on social media ended up in woman assaulting classmate

July 11, 2017

A young woman who assaulted another woman after a fall-out on social media has been ordered to pay a donation to St Vincent de Paul.

Chloe Dwyer, 19, appeared at Letterkenny District Court.

The court heard that Ms Dwyer, a mother of one, assaulted the other woman at Lower Main Street in Letterkenny, on March 23rd, 2016.

Solicitor for Ms Dwyer, Kieran Dillon, told the court that “it was a social media situation and thongs flared up.”

The two young women were known to eachother as they had been in the same class at school.

The nature of the victim’s injuries were not revealed in court.

Mr Dillon said his client had turned a corner and was about to start work in a local clothing store and was also planning to return to education.

Judge Paul Kelly asked Mr Dillon if his client, from Rossuiligh, Oldtown, Letterkenny, has indicated she has any remorse.

He said she was willing to comply with the court and Judge Kelly ordered Ms Dwyer to make a donation of €150 to Vincent de Paul.

“If she pays that I will strike out the matter,” added the Judge.
