Dungloe GAA club finalising plans for annual ‘Martello’ event

Dungloe GAA Club are currently finalising plans for the Annual Martello Event that takes places during the Mary From Dungloe Festival in Maghery.  

As this year is the 50th celebrations of the Mary from Dungloe Festival the club are changing a few things to do with the event and adding a new dimension to it with a route change for the cycle and a new twist to the water event.

The Adult Martello (17 years and over) event includes a 22k cycle, 4.2k run, 100 meter kayak, 800 meter run for adults. The Race is open to all genders and teams (2 adults any combination) can also take part.

The Junior Martello for 16 year olds or younger and includes a 3.5k cycle, 800 meter run, 50 meter kayak and an 800 meter run.

Book early to avoid disappointment as places are limited.

Pre-registration and briefing takes place on Friday 4th August from 6:30-7:30 in Dungloe GAA Club House.

Registration and briefing on Saturday 5th August from 9am in the Ionad an Mhachaire Centre, Maghery with the event starting at 10am sharp.

Presentation of prizes will take place after the event at the Centre in Maghreb with refreshments provided.  There will be medals for all competitors.

A great morning of fun is guaranteed for all the family.

Prices: U12 & U16 – €5; Adults – €20; Teams of 2 – €30

The club will be calling on anyone available to help on the day with stewarding etc to let any committee member know as soon as possible.
