‘Missing’ kayakers located at Rossnowlagh as Coast Guard issues warning

Two kayakers were feared missing for a short time yesterday evening at Rossnowlagh Beach, promoting Coast Guard officials to warn water users about visibility and communication.

Killybegs Coast Guard was tasked to the area by the Malin Head Coast Guard, following a report from the Rossnowlagh Beach lifeguards, who raised concerns as to the whereabouts of the two kayakers.

Lifeguards raised an alarm on the pair on the north side of the beach.

Bundoran RNLI was on the scene first and spoke to a number of kayakers.

Both boats were stood down after it was confirmed that the two kayakers had made it safely ashore.

“Killybegs Coast Guard Unit would like to remind everyone to wear a lifejacket and to always have a form of communication when on and around the water,” said a spokesperson for the Coast Guard.
