Aura Leisure Centre Letterkenny are celebrating 10 great years of health, fitness, fun, family and friends:

With so many great memories from the pool deck, the gym floor and the Aura Arena we don’t know where to start! We just want to say a big thank you to all of our members young and old and here’s to another 10 great years.

Aura Letterkenny have taught 100’s of young Letterkenny kids how to swim over the years and the gym teamed have helped so many of the great people of Letterkenny reach their health and fitness goals over the past 10 years. It has been great to see.

The Aura Letterkenny Operations Manager Aine Temple says “I’m delighted to be part of the team in Aura Leisure Letterkenny, I am extremely proud of being at the helm of a Leisure Centre and Arena that is at the heart of the community, we have over 100 clubs and societies that use the centre as well as our members, schools and guests and I love nothing more than soaking up the energetic atmosphere on daily basis, the team in Aura Leisure and Letterkenny in general have welcomed me and my family with open arms over the past number of years and I am looking forward to being part of the Letterkenny community and being part of the Aura Leisure family for many more years to come.”

As part of the Aura Leisure mission Aine wants the Leisure Centre and the staff to be embedded in the community and this is done through working with local sports and athletic clubs.

Aura Letterkenny hosts a number of clubs from Letterkenny and the Donegal region including the Swilly Seals, Letterkenny Rovers, LAC, Blaze basketball, Maiden City FC, FAI Coaching Academy, Doe Swim Club, 247 Triathlon Club, St. Eunans, Letterkenny Gaels, Finn Harps, Rathmullan Celtic, Tommy McClafferty Kickboxing, John Wilkie Karate and the Donegal Sports Partnership. Aine and the team would love to see these affiliations and partnerships grow along with the success of all of these clubs and their members.

Aura Leisure Letterkenny are also proud to offer the hardworking people in Pramerica, United Healthcare, HSE and other large local companies a corporate rate on memberships and the team at the leisure centre are open to working with many more of the businesses in the local area.

Over the past 10 years the Aura Arena has hosted a number of national and international acts including Nathan Carter, Riverdance, The Tubridy Show, Daniel O’Donnell, Kenny Rogers, Jedward, Keith Barry and many more. Aura Leisure have also hosted a number of events in the Arean including the Ulster Irish Dancing Championships, World Jiu Jitsu Championships, World Fitness Federation Irish Championships, Wedding Fairs, Home Shows, The Donegal Road Safety Show, Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Show, Donegal Marathon, and the 247 Try a Tri.

In September Aura Arena will be home to the European Amateur Boxing Championships and in 2020 the Arena is hosting the World Tug of War Championships which is expected to draw over 10,000 people from all over the world to Letterkenny.

On Saturday July 15th Aura Letterkenny will host a family fun day and BBQ to celebrate their 10th birthday. This event will be hosted in conjunction with No Barriers. Registration for the No Barriers races opens at 1pm and the races will commence at 2pm.

There will also be free entry to the Family Fun Swim from 2:30-4:30pm where the pool inflatable and slides will be open. The event will finish the afternoon with a BBQ and refreshments from 3-5pm. There will also be a draw for one lucky person to win membership for life and bouncy castles, face painting and fun for all the family from 2pm.

Aura Leisure’s Chief Executive, staff and members are absolutely delighted with how the Aura Leisure Centre and Arena in Letterkenny has progressed over the years and with how our loyal membership has increased, it’s just another step on our way to helping make a healthier, happier Ireland!

We’ve also got a brand new website for all our Letterkenny members to use. In 2016, as a result of all this great feedback, the decision was made to re-design the Aura website. In January, we teamed up with our designers to start work on what we want to be an ‘award winning’ website and we launched it on April 11th 2017 – www.auraleisure.ie
