The Magee siblings from Raphoe are off to California this week to compete in the Yonex US Open.

Chloe, Sam and Joshua Magee will take part in the tournament in Anaheim California.

Play at the Anaheim Convention Center begins on Wednesday and comes in a busy schedule for the Magees which saw them take part in the Canada Open in recent days in Calgary.

Chloe and Sam Magee (pictured) – who last month won the Spanish International – advanced from their opening game against French pair Jordan Corvee and Anne Tran 21-14, 22-20, but they came unstuck in a thriller with Vietnamese duo Tuan Duc Do and Nhu Thao Pham.

The Magees lost the opening set 22-20, but fought back for a 21-18 success in the next only to lose the decisive third 21-17.

Joshua and Sam Magee were pipped 23-21, 21-9 by Dutch team Jacco Arends and Ruben Jille in the men’s doubles.

Joshua Magee also took part in the men’s singles at the Winsport Arena.

After a win over Luke Couture from Canada, 21-11 21-13, he lost out to Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto 21-15, 21-10.

These are important events for the players in the build up the the World Championships which are taking place in Glasgow this coming August.
