Donegal Youth Service Community Employment Project
Vacancy: Youth Support Worker
Location: Raphoe Family Resource Centre
19.5 hours per week

Raphoe Boxing Club
Best wishes to boxers Liam McMonagle, Eoin McGarrell, Tom Doherty and their coaches Gary McCullagh and Gerard Keaveney who travel to Dublin for the next 3 weekends to compete in the National Senior Cadet championships. Good Luck to all from everyone at the club.

Sincere thanks go to Stephen Martin for his excellent paint work at the Boxing Club and to Marin Laird and all the Raphoe Tidy Towns for all the work they do inside and outside the boxing club, as it is greatly appreciated by all.

Best wishes for every success goes to Raphoe’s club secretary, Peter O’Donnell, who has been appointed as National Team Manage for the forthcoming European Schoolboy Championships that take place in Valcea, Romania from 16th to 27th July. Another great honour for the long serving Donegal County Board President, best wishes.

The Tidy towns will have the following vacancies for the next C.E Project due to commence in September. 4 General Environmental workers, 1 Caretaker/cleaner & 1 Secretarial/ Accounts Administrator. Raphoe Tidy Towns Local History Project
Have you any old photos of Raphoe & District? We are particularly interested in photos of community or church events, farming, local people & characters, schooldays, sports days or indeed any other photographs of interest. All original photos will be scanned or copied and the original returned. All those donating photos will be acknowledged.

Donations may be left for the attention of Martin or Hilary in the Tidy Towns office at the Volt House. Tel 9145692.

Donegal YMCA Step 2017 – 18 Programme Recruitment
YMCA’s Support, Training and Enterprise Programme (STEP) in Letterkenny is currently recruiting for their September 2017 to June 2018 programme. The 47 week full-time programme offers a full FETAC/QQI Level 4 major award in Employment Skills. There are components in Communications, Work Experience, Career Planning, Customer Service, Information Technology, Computer Applications, Functional Maths, Understanding Inter-culturalism and Team Working. There are also two work placement components totalling 6 weeks within the course. The aim of the programme is to support participants in gaining employment or accessing further education. The programme is primarily aimed at early school leavers who are unemployed and between the ages of 17-25 years, having left school at least 6 months previously.

Participants receive the equivalent of SOLAS training allowances and also receive a transport & meal allowance.  The course is funded by the Department of Education and Skills and the European Social Fund. Convoy Ulster Scots Summer Scheme
The Summer scheme for 2017 will take place on 31st July – 4 th August 2017 in Convoy Orange Hall for ages 5 – 12 (must be at school) from 10am – 3pm. Cost €30. If interested contact 00447851410686 or 0872620589

 

Raphoe Friday Club
The Friday Club meets every Friday morning in the Volt House Hall from 10.30am-12.30. We would like more in our community to come along and be a part of the Group. There will be events organised over the summer so come along and join in the craic!

Refreshments are also provided. Transport is available on Friday mornings and if you require this please phone 0749145462 and arrange.

 

Raphoe Tidy Towns News

Re-cycling of cans and glass in Raphoe.
The Tidy Towns wish to inform members of the public that the glass and can recycling facilities which are located at Raphoe Hardware, Lifford Road, Raphoe must be kept tidy at all times. Please do not leave rubbish or broken glass at the recycling bins. Please respect this community facility. Opening Hours: Monday – Saturday 8.30am – 5.30pm.

A sincere thank you to the all concerned in the Tidy Towns Committee, the Tidy Towns Community Employment Project, the rural scheme staff member & the Tidy Towns volunteers for all their hard work at present. The town is looking well despite the recent inclement weather. Thanks also to all the various resident’s associations, businesses, churches and schools and the general public for all their support for the good of our town. Judging in the National Tidy Towns is ongoing at present and continues usually until mid-August every year.
