Man celebrates 60th birthday by scooping €50,000 on a scratch card!

A Co. Donegal man who celebrated his 60th birthday in style as he collected a cheque for €50,000 following his win on a €5 All Cash Platinum scratch card.

The winning All Cash Platinum ticket was sold at the Spar store in Derrybeg.

After making the long journey from Donegal by bus with his family, the lucky winner said that he would have to let his win sink in first before he decided on how to spend his winnings

He said “This is a marvellous surprise and it’s just in time for my birthday. I’m going to enjoy the next few days celebrating with my family and after that we’ll see about spending some of the prize money.”

Playing National Lottery funds good causes across Ireland. In 2016 alone, the National Lottery raised over €210 million good causes.

This level of funding has made a significant difference to communities, projects and individuals in the areas of Youth, Sports, Recreation, Amenities, Health, Welfare, Arts, Culture, National Heritage and the Irish Language.
