The Hootin’ Annies have shared their fantastic cover of ‘Mary from Dungloe’ to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Mary from Dungloe International Festival.

Mick Owens, Andrew Masterson, and Ronan McCann add their own unique twist to the classic anthem, with goosebump-inducing harmonies as the banjo, acoustic guitar, and keyboard are masterfully played by the trio.

The Hootin’ Annies took to the Gig Rig on Dungloe Main Street on Sunday last, performing everything from sixties hits to modern classics.

They say; “We were given the privilege of being asked to record the title track for this year’s Mary From Dungloe International Festival, we are delighted to present our live recording of it to you now, recorded in the downtime between recording our album, due for release later this year.

“This will also become our first track ever to become available on Spotify, iTunes and other streaming and media platforms within the next week, we will keep you posted with regards to these developments.

“We want to say a massive thank you to Bayview Bar Dungloe for asking this of us, to Steve Rafferty of Outland Studios for his wisdom, guidance and craic in not just this small recording but with our album work so far. Also to one of our best bais Darragh Tracey for shooting our wee bakes in this video.

“Finally we want to wish Rachel Doherty all the best in the competition representing Dungloe, one of our favourite people from one of our favourite towns and a regular at our gigs and at the occasional Bruce Springsteen concert with us.”
