The number of people on waiting lists for appointments at Letterkenny University Hospital at the end of July stands at 16,563.
Figures from the National Treatment Purchase Fund show that over 1,200 people have been waiting more than one year for outpatient and inpatient appointments at LUH.
A total of 13985 people are currently on the waiting lists for Outpatient Treatments at LUH, as of 27th July 2017 when the numbers were compiled.
In the same time period, there were 2578 people waiting on inpatient treatments of various specialities in Letterkenny.
Nationally, the number of people on public hospital waiting lists increased by some 9,000 in July 2017. More than 579,891 people are currently awaiting treatment across Ireland, according to the survey.
There are 1257 people waiting for a first appointment at the consultant-led Outpatient clinic for Cardiology at LUH, while 57 of those have been waiting between 12 and 15 months.
Over 200 have been waiting more than 18 months for outpatient appointments at the Orthopaedics and Urology departments, with 364 waiting over a year and a half for General Medicine consultations.
Across the Saolta University Health Care Group of Hospitals in Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo there are more than 21900 waiting on inpatient appointments and 78561 waiting on Outpatient appointments in July.
